Brands like Hyundai, Kia and Skoda are preparing to unleash new compact SUVs in India over the next 12 months or so and here we have explained them
The popular compact SUV segment in the Indian automotive market is poised for a wave of new releases in 2025 from leading manufacturers such as Skoda, Hyundai, and Kia. Below is an overview of the upcoming models that will compete with vehicles like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and others.
1. Skoda Compact SUV:
Skoda has recently disclosed the launch schedule for its long-awaited compact SUV in India. To premiere in March 2025, this sub-four-metre SUV will be built on the extensively localized MQB A0 IN platform, sharing several components with its midsize SUV sibling, the Kushaq. Its power will be derived from a 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.
The engine is set to deliver identical power output and torque as seen in the Kushaq, standing at 115 PS and 178 Nm respectively. Buyers will have the choice between a manual or automatic transmission. Through recent testing phases, the SUV has been spotted numerous times and will adopt one of the following names – Kwiq, Kymaq, Kylaq, Kariq, or Kyroq.
2. New Gen Hyundai Venue:
In the upcoming year, Hyundai plans to launch the second generation Venue, synchronizing with the commencement of production at the newly acquired Talegaon facility, formerly owned by GM. Internally known as the Q2Xi, the 2025 Hyundai Venue is set to undergo significant enhancements in both design and features, with no significant mechanical alterations planned.
3. Kia Syros:
Expected to enter the Indian market in early 2025, the Kia Clavis is anticipated to offer hybrid and electric variants in the future. Positioned between the Sonet and the Seltos, the Clavis, speculated to be named Syros, will showcase a distinctive SUV design influenced by the globally renowned Soul SUV.
Expected for release in the latter half of 2025, the electric variant of the Kia Clavis aims to cater to the rising demand for eco-conscious mobility solutions. It is set to offer an array of features, such as a large touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, and additional amenities.
