The total number of scooters sold in May crossed the 5-lakh mark, which is a tremendous growth in YoY but is a decline compared to April 2024
With a total of 5,16,110 units sold in May 2024, the scooter market has gained a noteworthy 25.74% of YoY growth when compared to the 4,10,455 units sold in May 2023. With no worthy opponent (with respect to sales numbers) since a really long time, the Honda Activa continues to slaughter the competition. This time it managed to sell 2,16,352 units which is a steady increase in YoY growth of 6.39% compared to the 2.03,365 units it sold in May 2023. The Honda Activa is the only scooter to have crossed the 1 lakh sales mark.
The second position goes to TVS Jupiter which sold 75,838 units. Compared to the 57,698 units sold last year it managed a healthy 31.44% YoY growth. The third position was occupied by Suzuki Access which sold 64,812 units and managed an impressive 41.06% YoY growth.

The 1st e-scooter on the list, Ola Electric’s S1 range of models continue to gain footing and is currently in 4th position, by selling 37,225 units, up by 29.51% from the previous year. The TVS Ntorq at fifth position sold 29,253 units last month, with a steady 6.16% YoY growth when compared to the 27,556 units same time last year.
At the 6th position we have Honda Dio which sold 29,041 units, which is a constant increase in demand. The Suzuki Burgman registered the highest YoY growth among the top 10, at 90.77%, with 19,523 units sold. TVS iQube faced a reduction in sales, down by 3.81% YoY with 17,230 units sold.
Yamaha RayZR saw a substantial 40.84% YoY growth, with 13,794 units sold. The last model to appear on the top 10, the Bajaj Chetak sold 13,042 units, which is a 41.64% YoY growth when compared to the 9,208 units it managed to sell same time last year.
