The Indian automotive scene is brimming with excitement, with a slew of new launches across segments waiting to hit the showrooms. From EVs to facelifted favourites and powerful SUVs, there’s something for everyone in this diverse lineup of upcoming models.

Here’s a sneak peek at 10 of the most eagerly awaited cars that will hit the Indian roads this year:

1. BYD Seal

Launch Date: March 5, 2024

Chinese EV maker BYD (Build Your Dreams) will launch its next EV in the Indian market this year. This time, the brand will introduce a sleek electric sedan, which promises fierce competition for the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Expect a powerful punch with its 530bhp twin-motor setup, drawing power from an 82.5kWh battery. The starting price will be a little steep, around Rs 50 lakh, which is fine considering the impressive specs.

2. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

Mahindra’s premium subcompact SUV will get a makeover soon, boasting design cues from the brand’s BE electric SUV concepts. It will sport sleeker taillamps, a revised front fascia, and a tech-upgraded interior with dual 10.25-inch screens, a first-in-segment panoramic sunroof, and more! It will retain the current engine options – two 1.2L turbo-petrol units (with different power outputs) and a 1.5L diesel unit.

3. Hyundai Creta N Line

Hyundai is ready to offer an SUV for performance enthusiasts! The Creta N Line will inject some sporty spirit into the popular mid-size SUV, with N Line-specific styling enhancements, including a 160bhp 1.5L turbo petrol engine, a stiffer suspension setup, a red-stitched interior trim, etc.

4. New-Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift

The iconic hatchback will arrive in its third-gen avatar in our market very soon, with a fresh look and Suzuki’s new 1.2L Z Series petrol engine for improved fuel efficiency. It will share features and equipment with the Fronx and Baleno, it aims to elevate the hatchback experience.

5. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

The 7-seater SUV receives a design refresh inspired by the new Creta, featuring a revised grille, bold split headlamps, and new taillamps. It will also get a revised interior, including a sleek dual 10.25-inch screen dash setup, a giant panoramic sunroof, and ADAS tech for added safety.

6. Tata Curvv

This highly anticipated coupe-style SUV from Tata is expected to go on sale by mid-2024. It will be available in both EV and ICE versions, and its diesel version was showcased at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. The EV version is expected to offer 500 km of range, although the specs are still a mystery. The ICE version will be available with Tata’s new 1.2L TGDi petrol engine and the tried-and-tested 1.5L diesel engine.

7. Tata Nexon iCNG

India’s first turbo-petrol CNG model, the Nexon iCNG, offers a new dimension to eco-friendly driving. It features Tata’s twin-cylinder CNG tech paired with a 1.2L turbocharged bi-fuel engine. It has a similar design to the ICE version but with an iCNG badge on the boot lid. The driving experience should be pleasant, with the turbo engine ensuring decent performance and driveability under all conditions.

8. Mahindra XUV300 EV

M&M is planning to introduce a new electric SUV, based on the upcoming XUV300 facelift, which will be positioned below the XUV400 in the brand’s lineup. The electric version of the popular subcompact SUV is expected to arrive by mid-2024, featuring a similar design with EV-specific elements, likely a 35kWh battery pack, and a fairly competitive price tag.

9. Next-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Following the Swift’s footsteps, the Dzire sedan will also undergo a generation change. The new-gen model will get the same engine Z-series 1.2L petrol engine as its hatchback counterpart, along with all the feature upgrades. The Dzire will be a stylish and efficient choice in the compact sedan segment.

10. Force Gurkha 5-door

Force Motors will expand the Gurkha lineup with a 5-door variant, featuring a longer wheelbase and additional doors. This practical upgrade promises more space and comfort in the cabin while retaining its rugged capabilities. Expect the same 2.6L diesel engine under the hood as the 3-door Gurkha, paired with a 5-speed manual. However, the drivetrain will be upgraded with an electronic shift-on-the-fly controller for the 4-wheel drivetrain.
