EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.: Mac Jones has kept his job as the New England Patriots starting quarterback.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick created some suspense heading into Sunday’s game against the New York Giants when he refused to announce a starting quarterback, saying all four on the team had to be ready.

Jones was pulled during the final two minutes of a 10-6 loss to the Colts that carried the Patriots into their bye week. Bailey Zappe replaced him in that game. The other Patriots quarterbacks were Will Grier on the roster and Malik Cunningham on the practice squad.

Grier was released Saturday and Cunningham was not promoted from the practice squad for the game. That left Jones and Zappe.
