The Hyundai Ioniq 7 will become the brand’s first seven-seater all-electric model and it will debut at the Busan Auto Show

Hyundai has been caught testing the near-production Ioniq 7, which will be positioned above the Ioniq 6 crossover in the brand’s growing electric lineup. It will become Hyundai’s first seven-seater all-electric model and will likely make its global debut at the Busan Auto Show in South Korea next month before reaching international markets.

Since Kia is planning to introduce its flagship EV9 e-SUV in India, the Hyundai Ioniq 7, an alternative to the EV9, could also be considered for launch in the near future. The spy pictures of the Ioniq 7 have often appeared on the interweb over the last year or two and the latest images come from its home market of Korea.

Despite wearing camouflage, the styling details can be clearly seen this time around. While Kia went with an upright and boxy look for the EV9 amidst having futuristic lighting details, the Hyundai Ioniq 7 boasts a smooth-flowing design that could please family audiences while the lighting signatures and finishes are heavily influenced by its Sensuous Sportiness philosophy.

It has several similarities with the Ioniq Concept Seven, showcased back in 2021. The front fascia comprises split LED headlamps with DRLs sitting at the top and separate headlamps can be found on the lower end. From the side, you can observe flush-fitting door handles, dual-tone wheels, black pillars, a large quarter glass area and roof rails.

The rear end features vertical LED tail lamps, prominent D-pillars, and horizontal LED lights where a typical spoiler generally be at and a boxy tailgate. The Hyundai Ioniq 7 will utilise Hyundai Motor Group’s skateboard E-GMP architecture and will share batteries and electric motors with the EV9 but the performance outputs and claimed range may vary slightly as we have seen in the past.

The EV9 offers a rear-wheel-drive version with a 215 hp e-motor as well as a 379 hp producing all-wheel-drive variant. Additionally, Kia is working on a high-performance EV9 GT, which will deliver up to 576 hp. The battery options could include a 76.1 kWh and a 99.8 kWh unit. The interior will be packed with features including a curved display integrating a touchscreen and instrument cluster, ADAS, and much more.
