Queen’s Wharf development set to open 29 August 2024

Brisbane’s highly anticipated Queen’s Wharf development will open on August 29, marking a significant milestone for the River City. This $3.6 billion project, led by the Destination Brisbane Consortium promises to be transformative for the city.

The first stage of the Queen’s Wharf development includes the opening of several key attractions such as the Star Grand hotel, the Sky Deck viewing platform, the main casino gaming floor, the Neville Bonner Bridge, and an events centre featuring the city’s largest ballroom.

Dining and entertainment options available from August 29 include a sports bar, Luke Nguyen’s Fat Noodle restaurant, Japanese stand-out Sokyo, and the cocktail lounge Cherry, with more venues opening throughout September.

Future stages will introduce the Dorsett and Rosewood hotel towers, a Velo Café, and luxury retail destinations, with opening dates to be announced in the coming months.

Queen’s Wharf is expected to have a substantial positive impact on Brisbane’s economy and property market. The project has already generated over 2,000 jobs during its construction phase and is anticipated to create around 8000 positions once fully operational.

The influx of more than 1.4 million additional visitors to Brisbane is expected to boost local businesses and tourism.

Additionally, the development will deliver more than 1,000 hotel rooms and up to 2,000 residential apartments, likely attracting more residents and investors to the area and stimulating growth in the real estate market.

Star Brisbane CEO Daniel Finch announced that the initial opening period will be staggered over several weeks to ensure smooth operations, preparing team members, testing facilities, and optimising processes for guest satisfaction.

Queen’s Wharf is poised to become a landmark destination in Brisbane, enhancing the city’s appeal and contributing to its growth as it prepares for the 2032 Olympics. The development is expected to invigorate the CBD, support the night-time economy, and provide a vibrant new precinct for both residents and visitors.
