Real Madrid will soon let loose the doubts and rumours surrounding Vinicius Jr, as recent reports suggest that the Brazilian winger is nearing an agreement with Los Blancos to sign a new five-year deal that will keep him in the club till the end of this decade.
Vinicius, who joined Real Madrid back in 2018, has won the La Liga three times with the club, apart from two Champions League and two Club World Cup titles.
Spanish media had earlier reported that Vinicius, 24, received a stratospheric offer to join a club in Saudi Arabia, which has attracted stars including Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar in recent years.
Despite the Brazil forward’s current contract running to the end of the 2026-27 season, the Spanish champions contacted the player’s agents recently to rework his deal and put an end to the Saudi interest that has rumbled on for over a year.
Now, as per a fresh batch of reports, from outlet La Ser, Vinicius is all set to sign off on a new contract with Los Blancos, that shall see him stay in the club till 2029/2030.
It has been a tumultuous season so far for the young Brazilian — who has failed to tap into the purple patch from last year that skyrocketed him to becoming a Ballon D’or runner-up — and Madrid as a whole — who are trailing La Liga leaders and arch rival Barcelona by seven points, and were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League 5-1 on aggregate by Arsenal in embarrassing fashion in the quarterfinal.
Despite it all, Vinicius remains dedicated to staying at the club, as he had earlier expressed his desire to renew his contract with the La Liga club ‘as soon as possible’, subliminally dismissing reports of interest from the Saudi Pro League.
“I don’t know anything, nobody has talked to me about (a Saudi offer),” Vinicius Jr told TNT Sports earlier this year.
“They have to speak to (Real’s) president. I hope I can stay here for a long time,” added the player of the match.
The Brazilian who won the FIFA men’s player of the year award for 2024 said it was his childhood dream to succeed at Real.
“It’s always very exciting to be able to open talks with Real Madrid about my renewal. I have a contract until 2027, but I’ve always spoken of my desire to be able to play here for a long time, to be able to make history here.”
